Tactics in the Service of FatherPower

The Uber-Tactic

The first accomplishment for FatherPower, after securing 501(c)(3) status, is landing major funding. We might be able to spark a spirit of (friendly?) competition among the billionaire class to see whether the feminism-infused approach of Melinda French Gates to Richard Reeves and AIBM can be bettered by a $20 million matching donation to FatherPower from someone on the center-right.

We should be careful about selling our souls here, though. At its core, FatherPower is one of the most progressive social movements in America today. Potential donors who are unenthusiastic about providing wider and less traditional, less Provider-focused life options to fathers, men and boys would likely be controlling and limiting to what FatherPower needs to be.

If we are unable to catch lightning in a bottle in that way, we might need to resort to the longer-term process of cultivating relationships with foundations concerned about and looking for new ways to address the nation’s worsening social dysfunction.
